Breaking Free From Chaos

Half-day session

We’ll “bring” the training to you live, virtually or in-person, and our highly engaging trainers will make the learning experience fun, memorable, and highly applicable.

This useful and engaging session offers practical tools and techniques to build resilience, making the case for how resilience increases productivity, engagement, and team health.  Building on tools such as self-awareness, goal-orientation, and social support, this session includes easy-to-apply techniques for improving resilience in yourself and in those you lead.

This material is organized into the focus-areas of yourself, your team, and your stakeholders:

For yourself, it will help you learn to bounce back in the face of setbacks and discouragement by growing self-awareness and social support, and developing goal orientation as a way of building resilience in yourself, improving your ability to bounce back and having better workdays.

As a leader, you will be able to coach your team through mistakes and criticism. It will help your team build on continuous improvement and goal orientation, and to focus on the horizon. These are ways to overcome the negativity that is often associated with correction, and instead, embracing feedback as a gift and building resilience with the words “thank you.”

It will teach you to help your stakeholders learn to be more resilient in the face of constant change by tightening their turn through the curve of transition, increase their ability to predict what comes next, improve self-talk, and grow better social support. In this way, stakeholders can build resilience in themselves and those around them.

With presentation, reflection, quick-hit discussions, and individual application, attendees will walk away with something they can apply right away.

Resilience is the ability to “bounce” or “bounce back” despite adversity, challenges, setbacks.  The case for why resilience matters – adversity, challenges, and setbacks – are part of our everyday life, and the ability to “fail faster” helps us grow better and stronger.  From a business context, we only have time to do 60% of what we want to do, so organizationally, we need to bounce better and faster.  This is important, especially now, as we face increased mental health challenges, a shortage of mental health resources in Iowa, the day-to-day changes created by hybrid working environments, as well as the increased distress and discord in our nation, on social media, and in the world.

Your Clear Next Step offers three easy to apply tools for resilience:

Tool 1:  Self-awareness – learning and being familiar with your own triggers, moods, emotions, and responses is critical. Becoming aware of how to soothe/comfort/inspire/motivate yourself Application techniques included – reflection activities, mindfulness, feedback, garbage-in-garbage-out, sensory inputs, affirmations, skill practice, etc.

Tool 2:  Goal-orientation / purpose-focus – knowing your goal personally or individually helps you review incidents/moments/events in the context of the journey towards or pursuit of the goal.  Application techniques included – personal goal setting, understanding/unifying around organizational goals and initiative goals, continuous improvement, drawing the journey map

Tool 3:  Social support – resilience is supported by having a solid and productive community/tribe/network/social support.  Knowing your go-to resources to help you get real, move through grief, regain focus, get motivated and moving.  Application techniques included – social support inventory (we become an average of the 5 people we spend the most time with), useful questions, what-would, accountability partners, shared support
